Synopsis:
From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Vincent comes a richly imagined, provocative new series set in the dark mythology of the Menagerie…
When Delilah Marlow visits a famous traveling carnival, Metzger's Menagerie, she is an ordinary woman in a not-quite-ordinary world. But under the macabre circus black-top, she discovers a fierce, sharp-clawed creature lurking just beneath her human veneer. Captured and put on exhibition, Delilah in her black swan burlesque costume is stripped of her worldly possessions, including her own name, as she's forced to "perform" in town after town.
But there is breathtaking beauty behind the seamy and grotesque reality of the carnival. Gallagher, her handler, is as kind as he is cryptic and strong. The other "attractions"—mermaids, minotaurs, gryphons and kelpies—are strange, yes, but they share a bond forged by the brutal realities of captivity. And as Delilah struggles for her freedom, and for her fellow menagerie, she'll discover a strength and a purpose she never knew existed.

I love Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series, and really like her relatively new book The Stars Never Rise, so it's no surprise that I want to get my hands on her newest novel, Menagerie. It sounds like it's going to be an epic read about humanity, about fighting for rights that should already be a given in life. I look forward to seeing how Vincent creates this fantastical world, to read about these mythological creatures and journey with the protagonist as she struggles to break free of the menagerie and regain her freedom. This isn't going to be a light read. It's going to be brutal, graphic, and completely engrossing. Time to bump this up on my TBR pile.

Teaser:
"Get her processed, then put her on the row. Tomorrow, start breaking her."
His instructions echoed in my head.
His instructions echoed in my head.
Break me? Like a stick for kindling or like a pony for riding? Break me like a date, or like a heart, or like a promise?
In the end, it wouldn't matter. I had no intention of being broken.

Yeah, this is gonna be a dark one, but a kickass one (fingers crossed). And isn't that cover just a beauty?
